The construction industry is facing a growing skills gap, making finding the right people harder and harder and finding the right candidate can often seem like just the start of an employer’s problems as so many candidates appear great on paper, when in reality their skills, commitment and discipline can soon be brought into question. For these, and many other reasons, we have found hiring ex-military an ongoing solution.
So, what are the other reasons?
Well there are lots, but primarily because we are guaranteed a level of skills, commitment and discipline that we simply find hard to get elsewhere. Being one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in the UK, the armed forces has over 8,000 people qualifying each year with skills that are highly transferable to the construction industry. We also find ex-military personnel highly motivated and their service experience and training always offers real value to the teams they join and of course they are results driven, adaptable, flexible and remain natural team players, willing to take instruction, even when conditions on site become really stressful.

One of the key benefits of recruiting ex-military personnel or indeed soon to be ex-military or reservists, is that they already have the level of Security Clearance that a number of major construction projects underway in the UK require. The range of opportunities we currently have are excellent and so are the salaries and we are particularly keen to recruit for a key project straddling the border of Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.  So, if you’re ex-military personnel, soon to be ex-military or a reservist we are recruiting now for the following disciplines:

  • General Labourers with a CSCS Card
  • Traffic Marshals with a CSCS Card
  • Escort Drivers (British or EU driving licences)
  • Handypersons
  • Forklift Drivers
  • NVQ Level 3 SPV
